Disappointing a little for a 5 star hotel. When we checked in in Amarillys, we were given our card and told to take the elevator to the 6th floor and there we would find our suite. The suite had no number on the door, so we asked a room maid who showed us the way. When we got to the room, we were not given any instructions because no member of staff came with us. We noticed that the TV in the living room (Sharp) could not be operated with the remote control because it was not original and did not match the TV. We could watch DSTV. We just wanted to use the TV and mirror our German channels via mobil phone. A day after we checked in, the stuff brought an other TV and this was working as expectet. The breakfast does not correspond to that of a 5 star hotel, there are also few breakfast guests, There was no bacon, only one type of sausage, only plain yoghurt and fruit yohurt in plastic cups. We are used to a larger selection in 5 star hotels. We wanted to try Amarillys because it is relatively new in Blantyre. But we were disappointed with the long time guests' problems are dealt with and with the frugal breakfast. Recommendation to the management, you need to make more of an effort to eliminate mistakes faster and also improve the breakfast, what you offer does not match that of a 5 star hotel, even a well-run lodge can keep up with your breakfast. It is a shame to have to write such a review, as the rooms are actually very nice. We had suite number 631, which was very nice, spacious and had a wonderful bathroom. This fully met our expectations of a 5-star hotel. Our car was parked free of charge in the underground car park, which was guarded day and night, and this met our expectations. The evening meal in the restaurant was also very tasty and gave no cause for complaint. The wine selection could be larger, the red wine served was not very high quality. Conclusion: the hotel's facilities correspond to those of a 5-star hotel, the staff are friendly and helpful, the service to correct any deficiencies is very slow and requires several calls to reception. The breakfast is very simple and could be improved. Otherwise a nice hotel, we would still come back in the hope that the breakfast will improve.
